Becky Braaten, CIC

Becky (Henry) Braaten was born and raised on a family farm in Westhope, ND with her 5 siblings. She graduated from Westhope High school and went on to attend UND Williston on a basketball scholarship. That’s where she graduated with an AA degree and met her husband Sheldon. She went on to Bemidji State University for another 2 years of basketball and a BS degree in Mass Communications.
She is a former anchor/reporter for KXMB in Bismarck. She also worked as an inquiry insurance specialist for the ND insurance Commissioner and that’s where her love for insurance started. The Braatens moved back to Westhope in 1998 to take over the family farm. She spent the last 22 years as SVP of insurance at a local bank. She is the recipient the Kernel Award and the Durum Growers Person of the year for her work in the personal T yield Pilot Program.
Becky and Sheldon have 5 children: Kaydee, Alisha, Hunter, Ellie and Walker. She spends her free time following her kids sporting events and working in her yard.
